Hamburg – One thing is clear: For the Germans there is no Christmas without a Christmas tree! As the petrol station chain HEM found out in a representative study, more than eight out of ten German citizens – 84 percent – put up a Christmas tree in their homes for the feast of love. One in three only experience the feeling of Christmas within their own four walls when they smell the scent of fresh pine and see the glowing Christmas tree baubles. 47 percent of the 2,791 participants stated that a Christmas tree is a long-lasting tradition that is essential for the family Christmas celebration.
