Despite the current dissolution of the travel warning for Europe: 86 percent of Germans agree they don’t want to spend a summer vacation in the neighbouring country or even overseas this year. The reason: every second person finds a trip to other European countries too risky. 27 percent of Germans would rather stay in Germany this year. According to a representative study conducted by the petrol station chain HEM, only 7 percent of those surveyed want to get on the plane. Almost every second German citizen had already made specific travel plans for 2020 and booked a summer holiday abroad, but a third had to put the suitcases away again and cancelled the longed-for trip due to the corona pandemic.
